This course is based on Understanding the Brain made available by Internet Archive.
This course on the brain, its structure and functions consists of 36 lectures divided into 4 parts and is conducted by Prof. Jeanette Norden a recipient of multiple awards for teaching excellence. Part IV covers a range of interesting topics such as whether the brain of males and females are different, sleep, dreaming and consciousness. At the end of this part, Alzheimer's disease will be covered. There will be discussions on how this disease can be understood by knowing which part of brain degenerates and how the brain can be kept healthy and active to stave of this disease.

Prof. Jeanette Norden is the Director of Medical Education in the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology in the School of Medicine at Vanderbilt University. She is a six-time recipient of the Jack Davies Award for teaching excellence in the basic sciences; and a four-time recipient of the Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award. She was also awarded the first Chair of Teaching Excellence at Vanderbilt University. In 2000, Norden was the recipient of the Robert J. Glaser Award, a national teaching award from the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society of the American Medical Association.
